Last week I checked out the Fiber Arts Friday blogs and read about cardboard looms for weaving. I searched the web like crazy for more info and found all kinds of fun stuff. So I proceeded to snag some huge pieces of cardboard from the garbage at work to make all kinds of looms. I started small-first a round loom to make a beret...then I figured out how to make one to make a nice long scarf-I finished the beret-its cute but I don't look good in a beret-so someone will be getting it for Christmas--and the scarf has only just begun-but I'm lovin' it so far. I plan to use up all my practice spinning stash. The next project will be an attempt at the big triangle loom. Cross your fingers for me.

  1. I remember doing very small versions of this for elementary school craft projects except we did not have your cool fibers (it was the 70s and everything was polyester). I love the circular one but it looks very complicated to lay out!

  2. I love finding references to Fiber Arts Friday all over the blogger world. It makes me feel wonderful to know that people really do read all the posts.

I love what you made. Circular weaving is definitely ambitious. I love it. I was told by an experienced weaver to also take a circular mold (like what you use for cross stitching) and just set up yarn in the pattern you want to weave then weave it. Then fixed another spot. What she ended up with was a 3D wall art...she said it would be great for beginners because you would have smaller areas to work with. I think that will be my next project with weaving.

  4. I love these!!! If you make a triangle loom I want to see a big tutorial of how you did it, b/c I would LOVE to do that! :)

I also read your other post and I have crafty/wooly ADD, too. I think it's all part of the creative spirit. :)
